ӣƵStudents Present at International Educators Conference

The North Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) hosts an annual on Global Leadership and International Engagement. The conference is an opportunity for student leaders around the state to connect and share ideas for engaging cross-culturally and further developing their global mindsets.

This year’s conference was held at Lenoir-Rhyne University on November 11, and the Office of International Programs was pleased to sponsor the attendance of eight ӣƵstudents: Wanjiru Mambo, Daniella Martin, Itzel Alvarez, Sherly Romero, Atiqua Prithu, Lizeth Ortiz Ardila, Muntahin Maisha, and Rothmila Tajrian.

Meredith’s attendees proposed and were selected to present a session at the conference titled ‘Creating a Tapestry of Diversity: Fostering Inclusivity and Global Citizenship through Multicultural Events.’ In their session, the students pulled from their own experiences in the ӣƵInternational Association (MIA) to explore how any student organization can facilitate connection and inclusion on campuses when they intentionally embrace and amplify diverse student experiences and voices.

For Atiqua Prithu, connection with a broader international community was a highlight of attending the conference. Prithu notes, “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting international students from various colleges at the conference and gaining insights into their interests and experiences.”
